After 30 years of hard work, Sun Yeong Wai has transformed from a stall operator into a sizeable roast meat corporation. Presently, it owns several branches in Ipoh and successfully expanded its business to Sibu and Kuching in East Malaysia to realize a chain franchise business.

Passed down for four generations
A hawker stall transformed into a restaurant

Danny Shoo is the third-generation helmsman of Sun Yeong Wai. His grandfather, one of the first-generation immigrants from China to Malaysia, started a roast pork business in Ipoh with his roasting skill, whose techniques have been passed down to the 4th generation.

In 1993, Mr Danny Shoo took over the business. Realizing that Sun Yeong Wai has established a sterling reputation and amassed a lot of loyal customers, he decided to open his restaurant in Ampang, Ipoh, to ink a new chapter for Sun Yeong Wai.

As the first store of Sun Yeong Wai, the restaurant symbolizes a new milestone for Sun Yeong Wai with the transformation of a hawker stall into a restaurant. In the wake of unremitting diligence and professional management, Sun Yeong Wai has opened many branches, one after another, to lay down a solid foundation and to become a leading brand in the industry.

  2. Sun Yeong Wai will continue to improve its roasting skills of roast duck, roast meat, barbecued pork, etc., to attain perfection.
  3. The more efficient roasting process is stabilized through state-of-the-art ovens and scientific data to make each roast meat delicacy more delectable for the local Nanyang taste.
  4. He has improved the dining experience in an all-around way by creating a comfortable, hygienic and pleasant dining environment so that diners can enjoy a delightful fine dining experience of a new-era restaurant.
